Safe Space - The Young Playwrights 2022/2023 Performance at the Peacock Theatre

Big Day for the Young Playwrights Programme in Collaboration with the Abbey Theatre
Young talented writers moved the audience with their brilliant scripts running under the theme of "Safe Space"!
On Friday, June 23, the annual rehearsed reading by Abbey Theatre actors and directors took places on the Peacock stage in Dublin. With a partnership spanning over ten years, the Abbey Theatre - Ireland's national theatre - hosts the performance of the Young Playwrights Programme annually.

Safe Space on the Peacock Stage
Following months of hard work – writing, editing, revising and more – with our brilliant mentors, Louise Melinn and Seán Farrelly, the culmination of the project at the performance is a huge event for all the playwrights.
It was a great success! Congratulations to the young writers and their brilliant plays:
Pen and Sword by Ciara Higgins
Stamps by Nóinín Cooling
The Angel and the Ghost by Wiktoria Willer
3,2,1 by Laoise Molumby
Are We Safe Yet by Rois/Aubrey Faughan
Crushing It by Solomon Traynor
The pieces were directed by Ronan Phelan and Ursula McGinn and performed by Susie Seweify, Heather O'Sullivan, Megan O'Donnell and Colin Campbell. Thank you for your fantastic work in the plays!
We also want to thank Nicole Bassuk, Maryna Yefimova and Una Kavanagh for their support and advice for the young playwrights during this process.

The Young Playwrights Programme
