Write Club

“The first rule of Write Club is - you do not talk about Write Club. The second rule of Write Club is - you DO talk about Write Club.”

Write Club is a time and space for young people aged between 13 and 18 to come to Fighting Words and work on their own independent writing projects.

Write Club members have the opportunity to discuss their work with our trained writing tutors and other experienced writers. They can use our space to work on different types of writing: short stories. film scripts. comedy, novels, poetry, graphic fiction, etc. - whatever interests them.

Fighting Words is a Gaisce Challenge Partner - Work Toward Your Award With Us!

Fighting Words is a Challenge Partner with Gaisce - The President's Award!

Gaisce – The President’s Award is a self-development programme that encourages young people to find their passion, get active and make a difference in their communities. Gaisce is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland to young people aged 15-25 to dream big and realise their potential.

Over 500 secondary schools in Ireland participate in Gaisce, so chances are your child's school already has a PAL (President's Award Leader) who can provide more information and who will act as your child's mentor as s/he works toward their Gaisce Award. Many young people work toward the Bronze Award in Transition Year. Attending Write Club regularly is great way to work toward the Personal Skill Challenge Area.

Please contact the PAL (President's Award Leader) in your child's school for more information about the Gaisce programme and how to get involved. Don't have a PAL? Contact us for more information.
