Young Authors Create New Stories with Marita Conlon McKenna!
Marita Conlon McKenna Visits Fighting Words Centre in Dublin!
Author of Under the Hawthorn Tree and many other beloved books worked with young authors to create new stories
Fighting Words hosted an inspiring and uplifting morning at our Dublin centre on Saturday, December 3rd 2022 with renowned author Marita Conlon McKenna.
The session kicked off with author of None Of This Is Serious and Fighting Words writing mentor Catherine Prasifka discussing the writing process with fellow author Marita.
Joined by a group of young writers in primary school, everyone thoroughly enjoyed hearing the stories of Marita's upbringing in Dublin, how Wicklow has inspired her writing and how her ideas come to her at all times of the day and night.
It was then time to create their own stories - Marita provided a writing prompt for the participants. The young authors devised a Christmas-themed story with a little spider as the main character.
Projects Administrator Louise Melinn said, "It was a magical start to the Christmas season! We had a fantastic discussion about creating characters and stories."
