Young Authors Share Their Christmas Stories with RTÉ Radio One!
Interviews with students from two schools will be broadcast over the Christmas period
Journalist Della Kilroy from RTÉ Radio One visited the Fighting Words centre just before Christmas to experience the creative fun of our story writing workshops. She interviewed students from two Dublin schools - St. Patrick's Boys National School in Ringsend and Gaelscoil Shliabh Rua in Ballyogan.
New Stories for Christmas - On the Radio!
Students from both classes worked with teams of Fighting Words volunteer writing mentors in our main space and annex space in Dublin 1 to create brand-new stories for Christmas, in both English agus as Gaeilge.
The 5th and 6th class group from St. Patrick's Boys National School wrote a story called Elf Man while the 4th and 5th class group from Gaelscoil Sliabh Rua created Paddy an Madra vs Picil an Folúsghlantóir. All of the students then spent time writing - some finished the group story, others invented new stories and poems and many created new illustrations.
Listen to the Inspired Creativity!
All the interviews and stories recorded with Della will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio One over the Christmas period. These "stocking filler" clips will be played in between programmes so that listeners all over Ireland and the world can hear them over the holiday period.
The children told Della about their stories, their plans and their hopes for Christmas.
