Young Playwrights Programme 2023/2024 at The Abbey!
Rehearsed readings by Abbey actors and directors on the Peacock stage written by seven young playwrights
Once again Fighting Words and the Abbey Theatre collaborated to work with seven young playwrights aged between 15-18 to develop their ideas into full-fledged plays for the Young Playwrights Programme. Over the past six months, the participants worked with our team of writing mentors as well as professional actors and directors from the Abbey.
On Friday, 16th February 2024 the plays had a rehearsed reading on the Peacock stage in a showcase entitled Future Forecast and it was some great craic!
Young Playwrights Programme - 14 Years Strong
Fighting Words has been dedicated to developing young voices in the theatre through playwriting since the very beginning.
The Young Playwrights Programme has been running in conjunction with Community and Education Manager Phil Kingston and the team at the Abbey since 2011 and the rehearsed readings are always a highlight of the Fighting Words calendar.
