The 2023 Edition of the Fighting Words Supplement with The Irish Times - Available Now!

Now in its 13th year, the supplement features writing from authors across the island of Ireland

Since 2010, Fighting Words has partnered with The Irish Times to produce a magazine of new creative writing from writers across the island of Ireland. It is a unique opportunity to share the creativity of new voices with a wide audience.

This year's tour de force features stories and poems from teen authors, stories created at our primary school workshops and pieces produced at our special projects, including Words of Love and the 100 Years Project, as well as an excerpt from one of the plays created as part of our Young Playwrights programme with the Abbey Theatre.

Be Inspired by Imaginations

Be inspired by the imaginations of writers from across the island of Ireland - writing in English agus as Gaeilge -  all with powerful and moving stories to tell, with a good few smiles included as well!

The pieces address topics including the experience of discrimination, love in all its varied forms, home and your sense of place, the past and the future. The brilliant foreword was written by author, playwright - and Fighting Words Write Club & Young Playwrights alum - Robyn Gill.

The Irish Times supplement is one of the highlights of the year at Fighting Words. Congratulations to all the authors and many thanks to the many volunteer mentors involved in this year's edition - Mark Davidson, Programmes Coordinator

Available Now

The Fighting Words supplement with The Irish Times is available with the print edition of the newspaper on Tuesday, 16 May 2023. An additional 80,000 copies will be distributed to schools across the island of Ireland and will be available from Fighting Words in the coming weeks.
