Sketchy and Jerry

Fighting Words Wicklow, UCD Festival Workshop, Age range: 8-12, 10th June 2023

Sketchy is in a dark alleyway sleeping in his box. When he wakes up, he plans to rule the world.

Sketchy gets out of his box and walks to his friend Jerry the rat’s house. Jerry sniffs the breakfast that Sketchy brought him and starts talking to his friend.

He tells him about ruling the world.

“THAT’S RIDICULOUS!” says Jerry.

Over breakfast, Sketchy keeps asking Jerry to take over the world with him. Jerry soon agrees and joins Sketchy in his plan.

First, they gather the supplies from a MadLab to build a death ray, but the mad scientist soon realises his supplies are gone.

Second, they try to become really sketchy by walking in a very sly way.

Suddenly, they look back and see the mad scientist running after them. The scientist is an old hunchback with a few missing teeth.

He is holding poisonous potions in his jacket that Sketchy and Jerry can’t see.

He is trying to get to the friends, but he is limping because of his robotic leg. Little did they know, the scientist is trying to kill them for stealing.

Then, the prosthetic leg broke and the potions fall out, leaving lots of poisonous gas about. Sketchy and Jerry start running, but they don’t realise they are running toward a cliff.

When they get to the edge of the cliff, they see a death ray lying in the sea…
