Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Eve. Her dream was to win the Olympics. She was out training every day. Her Coach Bob was helping her. One day, she pulled her Achilles. She was out for seven months! Her rival Keira got faster than her while she was gone. She thought her dream was over. But after seven months, she was finally back.

She was getting faster and faster. Her first race back is next week, but she’s worried she won’t win because of her past injury. It was the qualifiers for the Olympics, and she was afraid of false starting. She fell at the last stretch, and her dream of getting to the Olympics this year was over. When they looked back at the camera, they saw that Keira got a false start.

Eve also got tripped by someone and they went into the same lane. She got dropped by Ireland for the Olympics. The top two runners qualified and Eve came third. But she kept training for four years straight, and after four years she got in to the qualifiers. The race starts and she’s in first. But Keira is only a little bit behind her. The finish line is ten metres away.

Eve starts to slow down and Keira starts to get faster. Then Keira was in first. But Eve still qualifies for the Olympics because she came second. The Olympics were in three months, and she kept training.

She saw Keira and she was training even harder. She got on a flight to go to Los Angeles for the Olympics. She was determined to win! While she was in Los Angeles, it was her 21st birthday. She was partying all night long. She was so nervous before the race and she got sick, but she was determined to run on. On race day, the starting gun goes off. But since she was partying all night, she got a very bad start and was slow.

But she didn’t give up. She remembered all the hard work she did and kept going. She was catching up with Keira. She overtook her in the last stretch. It was a photo finish, but she just won. That means she just qualified in her heat. She got through to the final. The Irish crowd were cheering her on. Her family was watching from home on the TV.

Her final is in two days. She’s training more than ever. Her Coach Bob is helping her. She couldn’t get sleep that week. But on the final day of training, Coach Bob broke his arm. It was just her now. It was the day of the final, and she was very nervous.

Keira broke the world record in her heat! The final was in one hour. She was thinking before the race of all the sacrifices she made. She could also imagine Bob cheering her on inside her head. She wanted to do it for Coach Bob. She thought, “I’ll give the gold medal to Bob when I win.”

The gun went off and she was thinking of all her sacrifices. She was neck and neck with Keira with only ten metres to go. So the next thing she fell and Keira passed her.

Then she got back up and tried to finish the race, passing Keira. It was a photo finish, and then she realised…
