The Adventures of Stinky & Potato

Fighting Words Monaghan, Scoil Naomh Pádraig, Corracrin, Co. Monaghan, 3rd Class, 19th June 2026

Once upon a time there were 4 animals walking through the forest, when suddenly they stumbled upon a massive castle. They wondered to themselves what was inside. Stinky the skunk went first, and entered the wooden doors to find a huge hallway. When inside, they stumbled upon Bob The Beaver. While in the hallway, they saw a big green stripy door. They wondered what could be behind the door. Potato the ferret, came running into the hallway, to catch up to Stinky the Skunk. “I don’t think we should be in here” Said Stinky to Potato.

They went through the big green Stripy Door, and they found a Capybara. Suddenly, Stinky, overcome with excitement, fainted on the spot. Potato looked carefully at the Capybara, and realised it was only a robot. They seen that the real Capybara was actually behind bars, in a cell in the corner. Bob the beaver Burst in, and shouted “THIS IS MY CASTLE!!!!! GET OUT!!!!!” He threatened them that of they didn’t get out, he would throw all of them in the jail with the Capybara.

Stinky suddenly woke up from all the commotion. When he seen the real Capybara, sitting in the prison in the corner, he fainted… AGAIN! Potato the ferret started to drag the real Capybara, over towards Stinky, so that every time they woke up, they would automatically faint straight away. Then he realised, that was a waste, so he put the fake capybara in front of stinky instead, as it would have the same effect. Potato dragged stinky out of the room, so that they could try and escape.

Bob the beaver came out, and tried to stop them. He pressed a big red button, and all the doors in the palace were suddenly locked tight. “Oh no!” cried Stinky, “The security system has just come on!” Bob the beaver threw them into the prison with the Capybara, and annoyingly, it caused Stinky to faint again. Potato the ferrett had had enough. He threw Stinky through the vent, smashing it, and then climbed through. Suddenly the bars of the cage started to lift, and a huge shadow crept over from the corner.

It was a giant Meerkat, who had been sent by Bob to catch them, and bring them back, but he was too late, they had already gone through the vent. They got out of the castle, when stinky smelled something in the distance. It was a kind of Meaty smell. When he finally opened his eyes, he realised he was lying on his couch, and what he was smelling was his dinner. Was it all a dream? Stinky was lying comfortably on the couch, when Suddenly, he heard whispers.

He looked to the corner, and thought he saw a huge Bob-shaped shadow in the corner. But when he looked around, it was nothing. “Phew” thought Stinky, and he lay back down. “Come and have your dinner” shouted a voice from the kitchen. Stinky was starving so he ran straight in, but to his horror, instead of his friend potato the ferrett, he saw, wearing a pink apron at the cooker, what looked like a giant Meerkat. Beside it, a familiar sight, a Capybara. “Oh no!” thought Stinky, as he felt himself begin to faint…
