About this publication: Creative Connections is a cross-border writing project by Fighting Words, Fighting Words NI and Graffiti Theatre Company, funded by Creative Ireland.
From October 2024-June 2025, we worked with sixteen youth groups across Belfast, Dublin and Cork; Newry, Drogheda and Dundalk; and Armagh and Monaghan. Each group partnered with another group across the border, and together they embarked on a shared creative adventure.
Creative Connections brought young people together to get to know each other in a fun and creative setting and to tell their stories in their own unique voices. Young people visited their co-writers in their home venue, and explored different styles of creative writing - from prose and poetry to scripts and songs.
The creative work in this publication forms a tapestry of voices and together they celebrate imagination, friendship and the joy of creating something new. We hope you enjoy reading this collection as much as the young people enjoyed bringing it to life and that it reminds you that creativity has no borders.
