Week One of Summer Camps

Graphic Fiction for Young Writers Aged 11-13!

The first week of our two-month long summer camps have gone off to a great start at the Ukrainian Community Centre! With the help of Ukrainian Action in Ireland and The Irish Red Cross, our summer camps programme brings young writers from both Ireland and the Ukraine together to hone their creative skills and collaborate with one another to create their very own stories.

Week one of our program saw young writers learn how to create their very own graphic narratives! With the guidance of the ever-talented Rosa Devine who headed this week's workshop, our young writers (and drawers) learned everything from formatting storyboards to creating thumbnails for their stories.

Rosa was lucky enough to witness firsthand the quick growth of these young artists in only the 4 days she worked with them. "It was fantastic to have such an engaged and creative group of young people with us this week and their comics are a perfect vessel for their humour, imagination, anxieties, optimism and sensitivity... not to mention their considerable drawing skills!"

Following the completion of the workshop, all of our brilliant young creatives were given completed copies of their works to share with their families and friends. We are so proud of all the hard work our young artists have done over the past 4 days. We can't wait to see what other stories they'll weave in the hopefully not too distant future!

Stay tuned this week and for the rest of the summer to all our social media platforms to see more from our summer camps!
