The National Conversation on Education Survey

The Department of Education launched The National Conversation on Education, a major national survey designed to gather insights on the future of education in Ireland. It offered a unique opportunity for children, young people, parents, educators and wider society to have their say.

Applications closed on 27 February but the results of the conversation will be on the agenda for the rest of 2026 and beyond. If you contributed, you have played a very important role in the future of education in Ireland.

The responses to The National Conversation on Education will contribute to the shape of learning experiences for young people in Ireland for the next generation.

At Fighting Words, we hope to highlight the importance of creative writing, creativity, the arts, and culture in education as priorities for consideration. Survey contributions will be analysed to identify themes for meetings of the Convention on Education taking place in 2026.
