Volunteer Mentors Shine at Open Mic Night!

Volunteers and staff gathered in Dublin to share and perform creative work

We love to bring our incredible team of volunteer mentors together. In celebration of International Volunteer Day on December 5th, it was time for our volunteer mentors to shine at our recent Open Mic Night!

The work performed included stories, poetry and song and was recorded with our new podcasting equipment for inclusion in a future episode of The Fighting Words Podcast.

First in a series of open mic events!

The evening was relaxed, fun and creative and also provided the opportunity to come together outside of Fighting Words workshops to catch up with each other. This is the first in a series of Open Mic Nights for our volunteers so there will be more opportunities to come together and share in 2025.

Pen to Paper - the Fighting Words Mentor Writing Group

Among the performers were several from the Pen to Paper group, the dedicated writing group of Fighting Words mentors. Pen to Paper meets every three weeks at the Fighting Words centre in Dublin.
