Introducing Story Slam: The Open Mic Event Launches

Story Slam is a new and exciting series of open mic events hosted by Fighting Words, giving young people aged 13 to 18 the opportunity to share their own stories, poems, and songs. These events are a space for creativity, courage, and connection.
The very first Story Slam took place in Dublin in September 2024 and marked the beginning of what promises to be an ongoing celebration of creativity.
Story Slam: Creative Connections Edition

This special edition of Story Slam brought together two amazing groups of young writers - one from Dublin, the other from Belfast - for a live open mic session at the Fighting Words Centre in December 2024.
Part of the Creative Connections project, supported by Creative Ireland, this event was a heartfelt exchange of stories, poems, and songs, celebrating both individual creativity and cross-border collaboration among teens.
Teen Take Over

It’s time for a Teen Take Over! In this exciting episode, Transition Year students Rihanna and Kaden from Coláiste Eoin in Dublin 11 take the reins of the podcast. They host a lively and in-depth conversation with none other than Roddy Doyle, the founder of Fighting Words.
Also featured is a compelling short play titled The Three Bangs, written and performed by students from Leixlip Youthreach - an incredible example of youth theatre.
