Launch of Dromcollogher Voices: Stories From the Town and Around
On Thursday, 3 September 2026, Fighting Words staff and interns joined the community in Dromcollogher, Co. Limerick for Dromcollogher Culture Night to launch Dromcollogher Voices: Stories From the Town and Around.
Book Development
The book was created in partnership with the Dromcollogher 26 Committee with support from Limerick Libraries and Limerick City and County Council. It features stories from two groups: adults who attended writing workshops in June 2026 and children from Dromcollogher National School who participated in workshops at the end of the 2025-2026 school year.
This project commemorates the hundredth anniversary of the Dromcollogher Cinema Fire. Community members of all ages were invited to reflect on the town, its people, surroundings, and memories, resulting in an incredible collection of short stories, poems, and illustrations.
Dromcollogher Culture Night
During Dromcollogher's Culture Night, writers, families, and neighbours gathered to hear the collection read aloud, creating a meaningful shared community experience - despite the very rainy weather! The event was lovely celebration with the Dromcolloagher community of the creative works included in the collection.
