Fighting Words Receives Third Amazon Literary Partnership Grant!

Fighting Words is pleased to announce that the Amazon Literary Partnership has renewed its support for a third year! This funding will continue to support core Fighting Words programs, providing free creative opportunities for young people across Ireland. With this grant, workshops and programs promoting diverse storytelling forms will continue.

A portion of the funding will further the success of the Write Clubs in Dublin, Mayo, Cork, other locations, and online. These clubs offer weekly sessions for young writers aged 13 to 18, providing opportunities to develop their writing with guidance from experienced mentors.

The grant also supports Dublin Story Slam, Fighting Words’ open-mic events where teens can share their stories on stage. This includes readings, poetry, and song performances, ensuring the continuation of this valued tradition.

Primary school students benefit from the Amazon Literary Partnership through the Word Warriors programme at Kevin Street and City Wise Education. The grant will help expand these six to eight week after-school programs, prioritising DEIS schools. These programs provide children with a space to develop storytelling, playwriting, and comic-making skills with dedicated mentors. The grant also funds readings and showcases to celebrate the work of these young authors.

The Amazon Literary Partnership also funds the creation of several publications with Fighting Words. This support enables young writers and playwrights to see their work honoured and published.

Fighting Words sincerely thanks the Amazon Literary Partnership for three years of continued support for these vital programmes.
