Mayor's Award Nomination for Fighting Words Galway!

The brilliant team of volunteer mentors at Fighting Words Galway have been nominated for a Mayor's Award by Galway City Council.

The Mayor's Awards are in recognition of outstanding commitment to community and voluntary activity and the impact they have made on the quality of community life in Galway City.

The Galway team, including coordinator Clair O'Brien and longtime volunteer mentor Jerry Caldwell, were onhand with Outreach and Development Officer Colm Quearney on the night.

"The nomination is a fantastic achievement for the Galway team," said Clair. "We are delighted to offer creative opportunities in our community."

The Galway mentors have run workshops consistently during the challenging Covid-19 pandemic times, including on Zoom, and have recently returned to in-person workshops. They plan to expand their offerings to include additional schools and groups in the coming months.

Fighting Words is proud to work in partnership with the Galway Arts Centre to support the Fighting Words Galway team.
