Irish Times Supplement Jan Carson

Introduction by Jan Carson

We were very fortunate to have award-winning Belfast-based writer Jan Carson, write the introduction to this year's supplement. Jan writes of discovering the writer in herself and how she was inspired by Margaret Roche, who wrote, "I knew I wanted to write because I wanted more."

Jan points out that the writers in the supplement are not "future writers." They are in fact "already contributing to our community."

These are words we all need to hear. They're voices we need to be listening to - Jan Carson
