Creative Writing Group for Educators

Thank you for your interest in joining this writers circle for educators. The current group is now FULL. Please keep an eye on the website for future groups like this one.

Are You A Teacher or Trainee Teacher Interested in Creative Writing?

Whether it comes from a love of words, a story that needs telling, a quest for personal clarity, or the wish to honour our days by recording something of them, the longing to write is worth heeding.

Are you a teacher or student teacher who is interested in writing? Would you like some company for this stage of your writing journey?  If so, this may be the group for you.

When: Online via Zoom, from the end of February, for 12 weeks
Time: Times to be negotiated with the participants
Duration: Weekly for 75 minutes
Cost: Free – but participants must commit to the full 12 weeks
Information: Email Mark Davidson – Fighting Words Programme Co-ordinator

Developing Your Writing Practice
The aim of the group is to provide a space where teachers and trainee educators can nurture their own writing practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share feedback and support around writing. While some elements of writing craft will be addressed, this is not a class on technique, but rather an experiential writing group where writing is produced and shared.

Each session will include several here-and-now writing exercises where participants will write in response to a variety of prompts. Underpinning the approach used is a belief in human creativity and in the value of every voice.  No previous writing experience is needed. This approach is particularly suitable for those setting out to create steady writing practice and is ideal for those new to writing workshops.

Format
The group will be held via Zoom, beginning towards the end of February with times to be negotiated with the participants and running for a total of twelve weekly sessions lasting one hour and fifteen minutes (75 minutes).

There are a total of eight places available. Participation is free of charge but participants will need to be able to commit to full attendance.

Please email Mark, if you are interested and available to attend.

A few words from Eva, our facilitator: I have facilitated writing groups for both adults and children in a variety of settings including Glenstal Abbey, ARC Cancer Support and in primary schools where I teach.

I am a certified Amherst Writing facilitator. I am currently completing a Diploma in Group Practice at St. Vincent’s University Hospital and this group will be part of my training. Writing facilitation is a ‘work of heart’ for me.
