Fighting Words is a free creative writing programme developed by Roddy Doyle and Seán Love in 2009. The programme operates on the premise that creative writing is an essential part of every child’s education: that giving children a real dedicated chance and space to explore the limitlessness of their imaginations, does great things. Fighting Words works with students of all ages to develop their creative writing skills, explore their love of writing and let their imaginations run free.
Seanchaí - Kerry Writers' Museum in Listowel is the first centre in Kerry to take on the Fighting Words programme. Fighting Words at Seanchaí will rely very much on volunteer support to tutor and mentor in these story-telling workshops.
We welcome all sorts of volunteers, from professional writers - novelists, screen-writers, journalists, poets, aspiring writers, Illustrators, student teachers, retired teachers and many more people who are just keen to be involved in creative work.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Maria Leahy, KFW Coordinator on (086)4033707 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org to chat about it.
