The Selfie Contest

By Erin, age 8 – Co. Dublin

Chapter 1
Finding Out The News

Once there were two children called Ciara and Conor. They both lived with their mum and dad. Their mum's name was Mary and their dad's name was Kevin.

One day, Ciara and Conor were on their way to school and they saw a poster saying:

"Selfie Contest on Sunday at 12 o’clock in the afternoon!

If you have good selfies, we need you! Ask any friends to participate too.”

So Ciara and Conor rushed to school to tell their friends. They asked Chloe, Emma, Amy and Adam. They all said yes.

Chapter 2
Getting Ready

So, every day they would practice their selfies in Ciara and Conor's house.

"Should we do this one?”

"No, this one.”

"Well if we are not going to agree, we have to take another picture.”

“Perfect. Who votes for that picture?”

“Me, me, me, me! And also, me.”

So that was the plan. Conor was going to go to Adam's house with him. When Ciara went home, her mum told her that her cousins were coming on Sunday.

Chapter 3

"But Mum! The selfie contest is on Sunday,” Ciara said.

"Well your cousins are coming, so you can't go,” Mum replied.

"Well I am going,” Ciara said.

"Did you just disobey me?” Mum said.

“Yes, I did,” said Ciara.

"Well, in that case, you are grounded,” said Mum.

“Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! That is the last thing I want to happen to me!” Ciara cried.

“Go to your room,” Mum said. “And oh, by the way, text your brother to come home.”

“Fine,” Ciara replied.

“Oh!” Ciara thought. “I have got an idea. I can text them!”

Chapter Four
Good News

Then Ciara had an idea. “I am going to ask Mum if our cousins can come.”

So Ciara sent the idea to Conor and her friends, and they all said yes.

So, Ciara asked her mum. “Mum can our cousins come to the Selfie Contest?"

“Uummmmmmmmmmmmm," Mum thought about it.

“Please, please?” Ciara asked.

“Okay, yes. But they get to do the competition too,” Mum said.

“Fine,” said Ciara.

So when the cousins came to their house, Ciara told them the good news.

And do you know what? They won the #competition!
