Madison and the Magical Peacock

There once was a girl named Madison, who was poor and ten years old.  She had long black hair and she loved dolls.  Her best friend was a doll called Maria.

In Madison’s imagination, she and Maria could talk to each other.

“I’m feeling sad today, Maria.  My mum is getting sick and I have the feeling that something bad is going to happen to my family,” Madison said.

“Don’t worry, Madison.  You will be okay because I’m here,” Maria replied.

Madison said, “I wish that I was rich so that I could help my family.”

Madison and Maria went for a walk in the forest near Madison’s house.  As they walked along, Madison and Maria saw a mystical peacock caught in the branch of a tree.  The peacock had gems in all the eyes of his tail feathers.

Madison helped to free the peacock from the tree branch.  As she took him down, one of the gems fell from his feathers and dropped into a small purse that Maria was carrying.

The next day, when Madison was getting ready for bed, she picked up Maria’s handbag.  Madison said to Maria, “Oh Maria, I still wish I was rich so I could help my family.”

As she said that, the gem in the bag started to glow like a rainbow, but Madison did not see it.

The next morning, Madison woke up in a brand new bedroom in a castle.

“Oh, Maria!  Look!”  Madison cried.

She had found the gem in the bag.  It was not glowing anymore because Madison had made her wish. There once was a girl named Madison, who was poor and ten years old.  She had long black hair and she loved dolls.  Her best friend was a doll called Maria.
