Lily’s Big Journey

Fighting Words Limerick Rathkeale Library Summer Camp, 18th August 2026

One day, Lily the Flying Dog was out above the clouds and she really wanted a family.

When she went to the first family they didn’t like her because she was flying.

Every other family had a dog so she had to go through a forest above the clouds to find another family.

When she got to the other side of the forest, there were no dogs only cats.

Lily went through an alley way and was being chased by a cat. She got to a dead end and a mouse called Sam showed her a way out that cats couldn’t use.

When they got out of the alleyway they ran into a cat named Tim.

Lily started to scream, “No, I am a friendly cat!” shouts Tim and the three of them decide to become best friends and try to find a way out of the cat land together.

They are in the cat woods, they hear a noise and then they fall through a trap door.

Through the trap door, they discover a flying car that runs on flying juice.

Sam sits on the steering wheel to steer the flying car and Tim is on the pedals.

They are flying through the air when suddenly the flying juice runs out.

They fall into a soft meadow and they see a tall building and realise they are in the land of guinea pigs.

The guinea pigs start chasing them, Lily says “Run for your life!”, they run into the skyscraper.

They are at the top of the skyscraper and they see millions of guinea pigs that are screaming which hurt Sam’s big mouse ears. Lily says “I’ll get you out of here” and she lifts them both up in her arms, putting Sam in her collar and Tim in one paw, she points her other paw out and says “Lily Away!” and flies away. Sam shouts “So long suckers!” to the guinea pigs.

They have been flying for hours, until they reach the Land of the Humans. Lily looks away for a moment and then suddenly they smashed through someone’s bedroom window.
