The Wedding Day

The Wedding Day

By Abbie, Gorey Community School

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I thought it was going to be the best day of my life.

Eight hours earlier…

It was a cold, wintery December morning. It was my wedding day. I was so excited. I got my hair and makeup done, I put on my wedding dress and we were on the way to the church.

The church was decorated beautifully with lilies everywhere, my bridesmaids were in red dresses with little fur coats and the best man and groomsmen were in black suits. This was the wedding I had always dreamed of. Well it was, before everything went wrong.

After the mass, we went to the Shelbourne Hotel for our meal, I was sitting at a table with John, my husband, and my youngest brother Eoin, who was on the other side. Our meal was taking a long time to arrive, and I could hear lots of the staff whispering to each other. John got up and went outside for a cigarette. Eoin kept saying he could hear a clicking sound under the table, so he went to look.

“A bomb!!” he screamed.
