One Pile of Bones

Blarney Street Boys National School, County Cork, 4th Class 07 February 2017

It was 1977. Bottle flipping was just made up by a random guy on the street. There was a bottle flipping competition on Bear Lake. 

Skeldrik wanted to sign up for the bottle flipping competition. 

He had to go to Albert Street to sign up. They wouldn’t let him sign up because he was a skeleton. 

Super Zero in Gnomelovania

Super Zero woke up to Genward the Llama-corn bursting through the window. 

Genward started shouting at Super Zero 

“Get out of your pyjamas!” Genward was really excited about his new sneakers. 

The Girl with the Pig Nose

Once upon a time, a girl named Penelope was in her house in Orlando, Florida lying in her bed. 

Penelope was dreaming. In her dream, there was a nasty witch. 

The witch said, “You shall have a pig nose!” The witch waved her wand. 

The Two Worst Friends

One day, Billy Bob Joe the chicken went for a walk down the street. 

He was going to Candyland. 

He saw Rainbow the unicorn, his best friend. 

The Maddest Maddest Fiend of All

Once upon a time there was a boy called Jordan the Mad Fiend who lived in the USA. 

He lived in a big house and his room was a basement. He had a really mean Grandfather. 

The only person he could talk to was Jerry the Oven, but he wishes he was a human. 

Roman and the Big Adventure

Once upon a time, there was a dog called Roman. But Roman lost his family. 

His family were worried about him. Roman was in the house alone when a grown-up boy came to take him away. 

The boy brought him to his house and kept him there, in prison.

The Lonely Boy

Michael was a teenager who was very lonely. His only friend was his dog Cookie. 

Michael was new to his school and was trying to make friends. 

He bumped into some bullies in school. They started calling him names.

One day in my school, Blobwarts, a new boy came into class.  It was Blob Marley, my best friend.  

He had finally transferred over to my school from the Y-men academy.  

The Big Game

Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a cheetah called Dexter and a wolf called Wolfie. Dexter’s best friend was Poppy the unicorn. 

Dexter the cheetah played football all day long. He never stopped playing football. 

He was just learning but he wanted to be the best footballer in the world

Wrong is not Right

Our Lady of the Wayside, Kilternan, County Wiclow, 31 January 2017 

It was a glum and wet day in the centre of China, and a bully had just chased Da-kumi. 

Since it was so dark, Da-kumi asked his friend, Jimothy the Rat who had radioactive powers, to glow.

Jimothy had low batteries, though, so couldn’t glow.

When Darkness Falls

St Pius X Girls National School, Terenure, 6th Class, 31 January 2017 

It was a dark, stormy night. Phillip was looking for Elephino. The house was shaking in the wind. 

Overthrown by his illness, Phillip was stumbling towards the door. 

The floorboards creaked as he approached the front door. 

Gerry and Daryl’s Great Escape

Gerry lives in a flat in Manchester and he is scared of going down the stairs.

He is an inventor, so he has made little sticky paws for Daryl the Super Rat. 

This was so Daryl can go to the shop to get Gerry food and supplies. 

Ellie the Magical Girl

One day there was a girl called Ellie and her best friend was a dog called Diggy. 

Ellie could see magical creatures. They went out to the park and they were playing ball. It was getting dark.  

Then there was a big cackle and there was a bully disguised as a clown. 

Fozzy and Gizmo Down Under

Once upon a time, when the world was ruled by man-eating dinosaurs, Fozzy and Gizmo went to Pizza Hut. 

Soon the city is going to be taken over by crocodiles.

It started raining headless chickens. 

Hebby And The Great Escape

St Fiachra’s Senior National School, Beaumont, 6th Class, 26 January 2017 

Hebby the spider lived in South Korea. He travelled to Kenya to meet his best friend, Gerry the giraffe.

Together, they decided to go to Room 7 in St Fiachra’s in Beaumont, Dublin. 

The pupils in Room 7 were going on a school tour to Kilmainham Gaol.

The Adventure of a Snow Leopard

Gaelscoil Bhaile Munna, Ballymun, 3rd Class, 25th January 2017 

One day, Leah the snow leopard was running around.

She saw her best friend, Winter the Wonderful Girl, out in the fields. It was the year 2020.

Winter the Wonderful Girl asked Leah the snow leopard,  “What is your greatest dream, Leah?”

The Ghost Hunting Adventure

Its late at night, Philip the farting potatoe is walking in Crispy Grass Park, playing with is yoyo.  

When suddenly he spots a big scary old ancient house in the distance.  

He hasn’t noticed this house before, so he is curious and he walks towards it. 

Fluffy and Geoff in Space

Once upon a time, there was a unicorn named Fluffy. Fluffy wanted to explore the solar system. 

But there was one problem - she was afraid of the dark. 

Fluffy’s best friend was Geoff the horse. Geoff made a magic portal to go to space. 

The Battle of the Scientists

Loreto Primary School, Rathfarnham, 5th Class, 19 January 2017 

Dr Maurice, the mad scientist, was in her lab. She was hanging upside down from the ceiling. 

Her experiment had gone terribly wrong and there had been an explosion. She was contemplating how to make her experiment better. 

Just then, the door swung open and in came Beep the Robot.

Kevin and Barbara's Quest

St. Fergal’s, 5th Class, County Wicklow, 18 January 2017

Kevin the uni-chicken went to KFC and met his friend Barbara the spying fly. 

“Why are we here?” Kevin asked Barbara.

Barbara said, “Because your old friend Porky from the farmyard died here. We’re here for his funeral.”

The Great Adventure of Bob the Unicorn

St John Bosco Senior Boys School, 4th Class, 18 January 2017 

Bob the unicorn lived in Lilac City. He had a best friend who was a Leprechaun, an evil leprechaun called Fred. Bob did not know that Fred was evil. 

What Bob wanted to do was go to Rainbow City to find the legendary Timmy the Chicken. It was his greatest dream to meet a chicken.

Bob and Fred went to Ricky’s Taco Truck for dinner.

You are Bacon!!

There once was a pig called Gizmo, whose greatest wish was some pink underwear. 

He was on his way to the shop when he passed the butcher’s. 

Bob the Butcher came out with a knife.

Gecko & Giggles’ Fearsome Adventure

Once upon a time, there was a minotaur called Gecko and his best friend was Giggles the Clown. 

Gecko lived in a mansion. He had built it himself in the woods. 

One day, Giggles came over to visit Gecko and he brought him a chocolate cupcake with sprinkles and marshmallows. 

A Vampire Mystery

St Columba’s National School, Glasnevin, 3rd Class, 11 January 2017 

Once upon a horror, there was a young vampire called Layla. 

Layla lived in a deep dark castle in the middle of the woods. She was no ordinary vampire - she was a vampire princess. 

One day, Layla’s family decided to move to a place where there were humans all around. 

The Draguar Adventures

Virgin Mary Boys National School, Ballymun, 3rd Class, 10th January 2017

One day there was a jaguar called Claws. He was with his family in the jungle in Africa. 

Hunters came to attack the family of jaguars. 

The father tried to scrape the humans and while they were distracted, the mother and children ran away. 

Silencing The Drums

I was sitting on the couch when I heard a knock on the door. I thought it was him coming back, but then I heard the high-pitched squeal of Donna’s hearing aid.

My name is Henrietta and this is my story. 

The front door opened and I heard the whirr of Donna’s electric mobility scooter zooming through the hall. 

Neil and the Ice Crystals

Griffith Barracks, Multi- Denominational School, 4th Class, 20th December 2016 

Neil woke up in his dusty, dark cave. He looked around, sneezed fire and fainted. 

(You’re probably wondering why Neil breathed fire, he’s a dragon). 

Neil’s best friend Dipper the Samurai Warrior Mouse, had just come in for his morning cup of coffee when he found Neil on the floor. 

Cookie Disaster!

St Thomas Senior School, Jobstown, 4th Class, 15 December 2016 

Trevor was a mini chocolate bar.  He was really poor and felt sad because he didn’t have anything to eat. The only thing he had to eat was Smarties.  

But he was a really good footballer.  He got scouted for Barcelona.  Then he got rich and then he got a Lamborghini. 

He moved to a rich mansion in Cookieland (which is in Spain) because he was playing for Barcelona.

Pete The Bin-Eater

Francis Street CBS, 5th Class, 14 December 2016 

Pete fell. He was sleepwalking when he heard Degi, his blue monster best friend, crying.

He was having a nightmare about pigeons. 

When Pete woke up, he thought that he was a pigeon but then he said to himself, “Naaah, that’s not real.”

 

The Little Daisy Princess

​Snugboro NS, Castlebar, Mayo, 1st class, 13 December 2016

After the storm, Daisy the little girl cat found herself trapped in a hole. 

Daisy was very frightened. She began to cry and as the tears fell from her eyes, daisies began to fall from her paws, and as the tears ran down her cheeks, she turned to stone.

As she stopped crying she turned back into herself.
