The Year of the Normans Creative Writing Programme
National Museum of Ireland and Fighting Words are inviting a small group of Write Club participants to explore the National Museum of Ireland’s collections and its Year of the Normans exhibition through museum visits, object handling, collaborative storytelling and creative writing.
Across the workshops, you’ll have the chance to:
- Explore medieval objects and artefacts in the National Museum of Ireland
- Learn more about life in medieval Ireland and the Norman period
- Use objects as inspiration for stories, poems, monologues, graphic novels and other creative work
- Take part in collaborative storytelling and creative writing activities
- Experiment with different characters, perspectives and voices
- Develop your own original piece of writing inspired by the Museum and its collections
- Share your work with the group in a supportive and creative environment
How to get involved?
The programme is designed around fun, imagination, curiosity and creativity rather than academic pressure, with plenty of opportunity for participant voice, collaboration and playfulness. It is open to ten Write Club participants aged 13–18. Workshops will take place at the National Museum of Ireland, Kildare Street, generally from 2.00pm–4.30pm. Participants will need to ensure they are available on the following dates between those times:
