We were delighted to host Minister Josepha Madigan for the launch of the Creative Ireland Creative Ireland Programme- a culture-based wellbeing initiative guided by a vision that every person in Ireland will have the opportunity to realise their full creative potential.
The Party in the Park, the children's festival as part of the International Literature Festival Dublin, took place at St Patrick's Park, next to St Patrick's Cathedral on Sunday, 20 May. The annual Fighting Words supplement of new Irish writing is published with The Irish Times each spring. The supplement contains stories and poems from young writers all over the island of Ireland.

The 2018 summer camp schedule will be announced at the end of this month on our website, social media and via our parent mailing list.
Camps are aimed at one of three age groups: 8-10 years, 11-13 years and 14-17 years. Due to the popularity of our camps and to ensure fairness, participants are limited to one camp only, we are very strict with regard to age ranges and places are allocated by lottery.
Once again, Fighting Words is working with the Silver Thread team to bring older people and younger people together to tell their stories in two workshops as part of the Bealtaine Festival.
We worked with residents at CareChoice Nursing Home in Clare Hall and fourth class students from St Francis of Assisi Primary School, Belmayne.

A Reading of seven short plays, devised and scripted by teenage writers took place on Thursday 29th March on the Abbey stage.The Reading was the culmination of a long-term project, in collaboration with the Abbey Theatre, and the sixth year Fighting Words volunteers have mentored a group of young playwrights.
Our first workshop with Children in Hospital Ireland was full of creativity and fun!
On Friday, March 9th author Sarah Webb and illustrator Philip Kennedy and the Children in Hospital Ireland team came together for a magical morning, helping young authors at Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin create a brand new story for World Book Day.
RTE's Nationwide featured Fighting Words on a recent episode! The piece featured the launch of The Search at our Dublin centre and with staff and volunteers visiting from Fighting Words Belfast & Fighting Words Wicklow (with contributions from Fighting Words Cork). The Search is a book written by four primary school classes from around Ireland as part of The Big Picture initiative with the Laureate na nOg.
The Nationwide piece also featured our new workshops in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow as well as interviews with Fighting Words co-founder Roddy Doyle and Laureate na nOg PJ Lynch!
