Story Slam - Open Mic Session for Teens - Returns to the Dublin Book Festival!
The next amazing Story Slam is set for Saturday, 7 November at the Dublin Book Festival!
If you're a writer aged 13-18, YOU can be part of it!
What is Story Slam? It's a series of open mic events run by Fighting Words that provide an opportunity for young people between 13-18 years from across the island of Ireland to share their stories, poems and songs.
We know that young people in Ireland are full of creativity and now is your opportunity to share it an audience of fellow writers, family and friends - at the 2026 Dublin Book Festival!
Hosted by MC Dave Rudden!
For the second year in a row, we are so excited to have the amazing Dave Rudden as the MC for this event.
Dave is an Irish author and scriptwriter. His bestselling novel, Knights of the Borrowed Dark, won Children’s Book of the Year at the Irish Book Awards in 2016 and is now a syllabus text. He has also authored multiple works in the universe of Doctor Who. His other books include Tales of the Darkisle and Sister Wake, his debut novel for adults.
Dave teaches creative writing at UCD, currently serves as DCU's Artist in Residence, and has travelled to more than nine hundred schools and libraries all over the world to talk about writing, mental health and monsters.

This amazing Story Slam event takes place at the Royal Irish Academy of Music on Westland Row, Dublin 2 on Saturday, 7 November from 4.30pm to 6.15pm .
Who will be there?
Young people, aged 13-18, to sharing their own original stories, poetry and songs, along with the audience at the Dublin Book Festival and MC Dave Rudden!
