Fighting Words and TCD Science Gallery Creative Writing Project Starting January 2013!
We are excited to announce a creative writing collaborative project with the Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin! Starting in January, we will be working with a group of 10-13 year olds, kicking things off with the children working with pinhole photography and camera obscura, creating cameras and images.
In parallel with this, they will visit the Science Gallery and other theatres at the college and experience the interactive exhibitions and presentations on visual imagery, how the eye sees etc. Once the children have made their pinhole cameras and started creating their own images, we will then get them writing in response to the visual imagery they have created!
The plan is to have finished work ready for the launch of the Science Gallery’s "Illusion" exhibition in the summer. The final work could take many forms, from fiction to animation to performance to all of the above!
The group will meet at least once per month for six months, probably fortnightly, on Saturday mornings beginning in January. It will be important for everyone to commit to attending to all the workshops.
The sessions will take place at Fighting Words and at the Science Gallery, as appropriate.
