The group of transition year students spent nine afternoons in the gallery, meeting with the staff, viewing the exhibits and learning about all aspects about life in the gallery. That's Comical is their creative response to these visits.
In September 2013, a group of students from Scoil Chaitriona, Glasnevin, joined an optional transition year project. For nine weeks, on every Tuesday, they would visit National Gallery and create their own comics.
“You hold in your hands an incredibly important moment- the first pressing of talent, raw and rich, distilled in a wonderfully imperfect, fly-by-instinct, tell-the-story-as-it-wants-to-be-told anthology of new comic work from new comic creators,” Rosa Devine, from the introduction to the anthology.
