The Teleportation Electrician

Fighting Words Belfast hosted over 150 primary school children from Belfast and Dublin for the unveiling of 'The Teleportation Electrician' storybook, the result of a 2 month cross-community cross-border creative writing project.

On Monday 19 June, ‘The Teleportation Electrician’ materialized at the Seamus Heaney HomePlace in Bellaghy as Fighting Words Belfast welcomed over 150 children from primary schools in Belfast and Dublin, the young authors of this futuristic new tale, to a day of magic and celebration.

Punkey the Monkey arrives in Belfast

Glenn Patterson helps celebrate Crosswords – a cross-community, cross-border creative writing project by Fighting Words Belfast and Fighting Words Dublin in North Belfast.

On Friday 3rd June children from Belfast and Dublin gathered at the Girdwood Community Hub with acclaimed author Glenn Patterson to launch an exciting new publication produced collaboratively with five schools participating in the Crosswords project.

Fighting Words Annual 2011

We are delighted to announce the publication of the Fighting Words Annual 2011, an anthology of ten stories written by primary school classes at Fighting Words.

That's Comical

An anthology of graphic fiction by students from Scoil Chaitriona, Glasnevin, inspired by visits to the National Gallery of Ireland.

The group of transition year students spent  nine afternoons in the gallery, meeting with the staff, viewing the exhibits and learning about all aspects about life in the gallery. That's Comical is their creative response to these visits.

Ten primary schools from all over Ireland visited the National Gallery of Ireland and were inspired by their tour of the collection and the secrets revealed behind the scenes of the gallery to write a story together.

A Window On The Lane

An anthology of stories by students from Mercy College inspired by visits to Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane.

Jam

An Anthology of Graphic Fiction by Students from Newpark Comprehensive
Jam was created by students from Newpark Comprehensive School in Blackrock, with a foreword by Paul Howard. The students worked with visual artist Alan Clarke, Ruth O’Donnell and Philip Barrett, who also designed the layout of the book.

Lightbulbs

A Poetry Collection by Young Authors, 2013
The poems in Lightbulbs are original pieces, written at Fighting Words iin September 2013 by a group of ten young poets between the ages of 13 and 18. The poems were then set by hand, by the writers, at the National Print Museum in October and November, 2013.
