Come join us at Fighting Words for story writing workshops for all ages! Together with Enoteca D’Asti and Graphic Studios, we will write and illustrate new stories while enjoying some light refreshments.

Paul Durcan

Paul Durcan gave a reading and took questions at Fighting Words on the evening of Tuesday June 22nd.

Paul's poetry collections include A Snail in my Prime, Crazy About Women, Greetings to Our Friends in Brazil and Cries of an Irish Caveman.

Fighting Tuesdays – Launch Date: 25th May 2010

‘Fighting Tuesdays’ was launched at Larkin Community College on Tuesday 25th May.


Jonathan Moore and Marian Ivanov read extracts from their stories and Amanda Miller, Carina Tkachova and Desislava Barimova spoke about their experiences writing the stories.
Several of the students will be doing radio interviews over the coming weeks.

On Tuesday 27th April, Transition Year students from Larkin Community College, along with volunteers from Fighting Words, visited Colour Books in Baldoyle .

They had the opportunity to see “Fighting Tuesdays”, a book of short stories they have been working on since September 2009 in the printing process.

“Fighting Tuesdays” is a book of 24 short stories , each written by a Larkin College TY student. The group came to Fighting Words on Tuesday afternoons from September – May and wrote, redrafted and edited their short stories, helped and encouraged by Fighting Words volunteers.


The book, with a foreword written by Roddy Doyle and an introduction by Hugo Hamilton, will be launched on Tuesday 25th May.

The book has been published by the Stinging Fly Press.
The Stinging Fly Press was established in 2005 and operates in tandem with The Stinging Fly literary magazine as an outlet for the work of new and emerging writers.
